Question by Allison: Any recommendations for primary care doctors in Orange County?
I recently moved to Orange County (La Habra, specifically), and I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis. I’m out of refills on my prescription, so I need to find a doctor out here very soon in order to have more prescibed. I’m kind of picky when it comes to doctors though since I have run into some not so great ones in the past. Does anyone have a doctor in the area that they love that they can recommend?
I have PPO insurance.

Dr. Pedro Martinez got his education in the Phillipeans and is pretty good. He has offices in Irvine and San Diego. Oh, he also works out of clinic in Costa Mesa.

They usually charge anywhere between 50 to 100 anymore then that you’re being ripped off.

I am a Magnet student in a math and science academy. I am a junior and over the summer i will be required to complete a 100 hour mentorship program in a math and science field in which i intend to go into in the future, which for me is Plastic Surgery. Please help me find a Plastic Surgeon in Miami, San Diego, or Los Angeles that would let me mentor them.
I have seen many presentations by academy seniors that have been mentored by practicing general surgeons, just no Plastic Surgeons. And I would be allowed to sit in on Consultations as long as the patient would consent to it, and many patients do as they like how it makes it less awkward.
Oh and i would not really “work” . I would mainly sit there and take notes. That is what i have heard that other students have done while being mentored by a surgeon.

You need to get your vocabulary correct, first: THEY mentor YOU, you do not mentor them. The Mentor is the teacher, you are the student.

I am not aware of any busy surgeon who would let a high school student work in any significant capacity in a doctor’s office, unless you just wished to work in some clerical capacity as office assistant. You would not usually be allowed to be present during any consultations with patients, or to observe any surgical procedures. (This is not only because of your youth, but also for reasons of legal liability and insurance, as well as labor laws in some states.)
But you might check around for a position as an “office intern”, for example, as part of a school program endorsed by your school. Maybe they might find some experience that would give you some idea of that type of medical specialization. Good luck to you with your ambitions.

My son was just diagnosed with autism and I want to take him to a DAN doctor. I found the names of about 5 of them. Does anyone have any recommendations of any good ones in San Diego county?

Every doctor I go to looks at me like I have lobster crawling out of my ears when I suggest the possibility that all my symptoms may be related to mercury exposure. Now that a celebrity has come out in the news with possible mercury contamination , they think I am getting my diagnosis from that even though I was asking to be tested 3 months ago. I want to have a test with a mercury challenge and need a doctor who is familiar with that procedure.

Yeah, I would suggest you go to the Planned Parenthood in Imperial and Euclid. They do free examination and keep everything confidential. Make sure before you walk in that you don’t know the receptionist. You know how they like to gossip to their friend’s and all. If you know someone that works at the Imperial and Euclid department, then I would suggest go to the one in El Cajon Blvd. Watch out for prositutes though….

Once upon a time I was a heroine addict. I have been clean for over 2 years now with the help of the medication, Suboxone.

Now 7 months ago I gave birth to my first baby girl, via c section. The whole pregnancy was horrible, my doctors were so judgmental and before I left the hospital they sent CPS IN!!! I have been clean for two years I was so horrified that they did that to me. I am a fully functioning part of society, I have a job, raise my stepdaughter and we have a nice house and I am doing fabulous. So overall their judgment of me was very disturbing despite the fact that I have corrected my mistakes.

Anyway fast forward to the present. My csection scar has been really bothering me and I am aware that discomfort is nothing to be concerned about and sometimes even pain is ok, but it is constant, and I could be overreacting, but Id like to talk to a doctor about it. Whats holding me back is I know if I go in there and have to tell them I am on suboxone they are going to think I am just in there trying to get drugs and nothing I do or say is going to convince them otherwise. After my traumatic experience with them calling CPS in right after my child was born I am very reluctant to go talk to any doctor. So, would it be ok if I went in and did not tell them that I am on Suboxone? Would they be able to check pharmacy records to see that I am? I know you are supposed to be honest with doctors but I am afraid this past of mine will always haunt me whenever it comes to medical problems. =(

Physicians can call pharmacies and ask about your records. The pharmacy can call the prescriber and talk to them about your record. However, prescribers do not have direct access to your pharmacy records.

I don’t live in your area so I don’t know any doctors there. Any doctor can prescribe methadone for pain though. With your kind of pain you should see a pan specialist. If one will not help you see another one.
